
Pets are welcome at all of NC Brunswick Island beaches. Please be aware of any local leash laws or town ordinances listed below that may apply for specific beach locations. Also, please be respectful of others and clean up after your pet.
Bald Head Island - Beginning May 1, 2010, pets on the beach must be leashed from sunset to sunrise. All other times, pets are permitted off leash but must remain under direct supervision at all times.
Caswell Beach - Except as noted, every dog within the town shall be leashed when not inside of the owner's residence or property or a closed vehicle. Dogs not leashed, but under control of its owner, are permitted on the beach strand between the hours of dawn and 9:00 a.m.; additionally from October 1 through April 30, dogs not leashed, but under control of its owner, are permitted on the beach strand between the hours of 3:00 p.m. until dark.
Holden Beach - Holden Beach does not allow dogs on the beach from May 20th to September 10th, except between 5:00 pm and 9:00 am daily. Dogs must be on a leash at all times on the island.
Oak Island - Dogs that are leashed are permitted year round on Oak Island beaches. Dogs are allowed off their leash from October 15th until March 15th from 6:00 am until 9:00 am.
Ocean Isle Beach - Dogs are not permitted on the beach strand between the hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm during the period of Memorial Day through Labor Day. Dogs are not allowed at any time in public accesses or public parking areas. Dogs must be on a leash at all times on the island when off the premises of owner, keeper or guardian.
Sunset Beach - From the Friday perceeding Memorial Day through Labor Day, dogs are not allowed on the beach between the hours of 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. After 6:00 pm and before 8:00 am during that time period, dogs are allowed on a leash. After Labor Day and before the Friday preceeding Memorial Day, dogs are allowed but must be leashed.
